Mother Earth News Fair, 2012

Well we finally did it! We participated in the Mother Earth News Fair in Puyallup. WA June 2, 3, 2012.
It was an amazing experience. The first day was a little overwhelming since we had never done anything like this before and didn't what to expect.
Thanks to a very well run operation by MEN staff, it went really well.

We were able to showcase our website and  products as well as meet a lot of new friendly people from all over the USA.

The big seller was Tattler Resuable Canning Lids. We took 8 cases with us and were sold out by 3:00pm Saturday. Whoops. We didn't know they were going to be such a big hit but most people were understanding as long as they knew they could still get them for the same price online.
We handed out over 500 business cards and answered a lot of questions about our Berkey Water filter line and EasyGreen Sprouters. We also sold a lot of solar flashlights and seed tape.

We can't say enough about the organization of the fair. I have never seen anything like the variety this one had. Classes and seminars for everything from canning to tree pruning. I saw alt least 8 electircal cars. Some of them home built. MEN had a huge book section. Everything there seemed to have good attendance. There were over 150 instructional "how to's".

It's going to be hard to decide whether to attend as a ticket holder or vendor next year..

I remember the days when we used to get home canned goodies at grandma's house. There really is no comparison to what we buy in the stores. I'm curious as to why this is a dying art. Of course I do realize that the fast-paced society of today has changed the way we do things, but to lose the ability would be a crisis. So hopefully, more people will grow a few things or go pick a few berries and have a go at canning. We must keep this art alive. Who knows, the future just might require this ability for survival. Thanks for the info.
